can someone please explain the appeal of the Krispy Kreme?

I've eaten them and don't see what is so good about them, yet they incite such hysteria.

please help,

Clokeeeey, I can't make it, so eat a handful for me!

Teaspoon, yes you should have. :)

Elaine, if you've tasted them and don't see what's so good about them, there's nothing we can do for you. It's something about the sugar explosion, and the melt-in-your-mouth dough, and the soft texture, and the warmth of a freshly-cooked doughnut that snuggles you close to its bosom the way your mother used to, and the sweet sweet comfort it provides ...

Ahem. I guess you either like 'em or you don't. I know there's an anti-Krispy Kreme contingent of bloggers out there, and that's fine. All the more for the rest of us. :)

Yum! Bevis your description got my mouth watering. I was trying to decide whether to go there tomorrow and now you've convinced me.

The last time I had them I ate six. Six!

Oink oink...

That has to be one of the best analysises of the blogosphere I've ever read.

LeighAnn, and you'd need a snorkle. I'd send you one if I was going to the thing myself, but as I'm not, maybe you can pop down to your local Krispy Kreme and get a doughnut for yourself?

*chooses not to get jealous that Americans have such easy access to Krispy Kreme doughnuts, grumblegrumblegrumble*

Pomgirl, I only speaketh the truth! Enjoy!

Sublime-ation, I'm guessing that this comment means you're a fully-fledged member of that contingent ... and that you feel most other bloggers are. Hopefully you'll still visit / talk to me / be nice when I'm in pain. :)

Oh Bevis. Yet again I feel myself bonded to you over a shared passion.

My favourites are the custard-filled ones with chocolate icing.

I can eat 7 in one sitting if I put my mind to it...

No. I'll get back to you to decide which side of the fence I'm on. I just thought it was a good analysis, r.e it summed up the bizarre raging wars of the blogosphere, that alliances were formed and disformed over a doughnut.

For reasons such as this, I wish I still lived in Melbourne and not in a rural backwater town. Maybe we'll get a Krispy Kreme store one day. After running water has been introduced.

Sob sob

Magical_M, yes - we're kindred spirits on many things, aren't we! And what are your thoughts on The Amazing Race?

Sheriff of Nothing, I hope you were able to fool yourself with your false positive thinking. ('Cos you're not fooling anyone here.) :)

Sublime-ation, oh - I see. Does this mean you've never tasted one? I hope you get the opportunity soon. But you're not having any of mine.

Kymmy, welcome! That just makes trips to 'the big smoke' all-the-more worthwhile, though, doesn't it?

Noshie, wrong answer, sorry. No need to duck. I'd never throw anything at you. You're too far away, for one. And second, I'm certainly not risking the fact that I might accidentally throw you a doughnut! (Have you seen my post from last Friday yet? The second part of the blogger pictures?)

Oh fine!! There is one a couple miles away.

I never go though. Maybe I will have to send you some!

Me too, Thérèse ... me too. :(
