Never mind the blog, go look after your wife!!!

Good luck, by the way.

And still with time for a quick blog.

With bold, and italics, and everything.

'Get the keys, let's get to the hospital!'

'Wait, baby. I've just to publish this.'

I'm impressed.

Oooooooh I just can't stand it!
It's been so hard not knowing how you all are etc, I have visited yours & Riss's blogs so many times in the last 2 days to see if you had the chance to give us an update, but having had babies of my own, COMPLETELY understand that you have other things on your mind right now.

All the best,

xxx (one for each of you!)

yep, i reckon a boy. and a name...for some reason im thinking of a 'sh' sound. dunno if that might just be my brain telling me to stay out of it

I'm betting on a girl; to be called Jaide Bylyndah, though I'm sure you could call a boy that too.

If this baby is named anything other than "Craig", can I claim forever that he or she was named after me?

At Tuesday, October 10, 2006 10:00:00 am, Blogger Adam said...

So we're decided then, it's going to be a boy and probably named 'Adam'.

At Tuesday, October 10, 2006 10:25:00 am, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Nope, I think it is a girl and going to be called Lulu!! Or maybe bevette after her father... It is difficult to make a female name out of the name Bevis though...

Hope Bevis & Wife & Bub are doing well!

We should start taking bets on how long it takes for us to find out if it is a boy or girl?!

I think a girl, and her name will be Sarah!
But hurry and tell us already Bevis :)

i left a comment here yesterday but it didn't take. it was oh so funny, stuff about me still jumping up and down, still hanging onto steph, and her getting a little tired, with deafness from my shrieking in her ear.

any news?

when you're ready, dear friend. take your time. WE'RE JUST ALL GOING NUTS HERE.

but it's ok. look after wifey and baby.

JUST DON'T FORGET US, OKAY?

At Tuesday, October 10, 2006 11:17:00 pm, Blogger BEVIS said...

Whoa! Where do I start?! I'll answer each comment in order:

-----------------

Elaine, thank you, kindly pirate.

MindlessMunkey, yep - that's just the kinda gal she is! Understanding, forgiving, generous, patient, stupid and dumb all rolled into one! :)

MelbourneGirl, I know what you mean about the scream of panic and flurry of activity. As for it being the first blogger birth (that we know of), I'm happy to blaze the trail. I think I also hold the record for the first pregnancy announcement being done exclusively by blog (that we know of), while you hold the record for the first engagement announcement on a blog (that we know of). We're pretty special people.

Dxxxx, thanks! It certainly was very exciting!

Problematic, but of course! There's no way I'd just throw something up here that wasn't carefully considered and contained bold, italics and a great deal of care! (In truth, it was pre-written and sitting in draft, so all I had to do when the moment arrived was log on and hit publish while Wifey loaded the car. I'm kidding about that last part, of course. She loaded the car while I had a shower.)

LittleFaerieGirl, thank you! I take great pride in the fact that I was able to publish this post before hitting the road! And I also take great pride in the fact that Wifey let me do it!

Adam, I appreciate the supernerves. I hope you were able to work. It was five days before I posted details of the birth, so I trust you got some work done in the meantime. Yes, we have a baby yet.

Adam, "It's been minutes and I still haven't calmed down." - That made me laugh! As for Riss, she received an SMS on Friday with details of the birth (as did Ms Fits), but they were both under strict instructions to leave the 'online announcement' to me, so I'm sorry to say they weren't about to give anything away.

THR, thanks for the tip.

Meva, thank you! And by the time you read this: Thank you! (PS - Welcome!)

I'm Not Craig, yes it is exciting, isn't it! Nothing personal, but I'm glad you don't have my number so you couldn't call and find out what was happening - it was stressful enough without bloggers ringing in for updates! :)

No Dramas, thank you for that; it's great to hear from you again (it feels like ages!). Don't miss the Big Blogger Grand Finale in a few days! *

* It may take much longer than a few days to get posted.

Pomgirl, cheers! Thank you.

Chai, goodness me, how do you pronounce your name, then? I've always assumed it was pronounced as it's spelt, but seeing those other spellings makes me wonder.

Susanne, hehe, thank you.

Anonymous / Chris, is this a Chris I know in real life? Either way, thank you for your well-wishes. I can't say it went off without a hitch, but at least it all ended up okay. :)

Magical_M, hurrah indeed! Parenthood with such a wonderful little tyke is a dream! I just dread the Terrible Twos.

Steph, he/she was cooked to perfection, thank you. No jaundice, no weird skin blemishes (once the ravishes of the actual birth had subsided), and no extra gick. He/she is simply gorgeous! I hope the pics met with your expectations/demands.

Colls Bolls, Riss was under special instruction not to let on (thanks for holding your tongue, btw, Riss), so I apologise for the long wait. It wasn't 100% smooth, post-birth, but it was by no means 100% disastrous. It just took a little time to get back to the blog, that's all. :)

Lulu, wouldn't you have felt terrible for saying, 'You have a baby' if he/she had died in the delivery room?! (Luckily for everyone involved, he/she didn't!) Thanks! :)

Treespotter, thank you for that! Mathematics was never my strong suit, so go ahead; hit me with it.

RichardWatts, thank you. 'Sproglet' could easily have been an option on his/her blogger name ... maybe for kidling number two.

LittleFaerieGirl, I like that you brought betting into it! It's a shame more people didn't take you up on it ...

Adam, trust you to jump at the chance, though! (Good guess, btw.) Yes, we have a baby yet.

Sublime-ation, thank you very much!

Enny, well done on your tip!

LittleFaerieGirl, it makes sense that YOU'D think it was a boy ... you've got two of your own! Not sure what the 'sh' is, although your brain telling you to stay out of it made me laugh. I suppose you could argue that the 'sh' is "close enough" to his blogger alias, but it's nothing close to his actual name, sorry.

Pomgirl, ahh - someone had to get it wrong, I guess. Sorry about that. And what's with the rather specific guess on the name?! Who calls their kid "Jaide Bylyndah"?! (Apologies to all those who've called their kid Jaide Bylyndah.) I would never call a boy Jaide Bylyndah. Although from some of the names I came up with for our kid, you might be surprised to learn that I draw the line anywhere (at one point, I was seriously campaigning for 'Gonzo' as a middle name - thank the Lord Wifey has more sense than I do!).

John Surname, thanks dude. And while I've got you here, don't miss the Big Blogger Grand Finale in a few days! *

* It may take much longer than a few days to get posted.

I'm Not Craig, that's a bit cheeky, although just in case I did call my kid Craig, and to ensure that I don't eliminate any name too easily, I can never confirm nor deny whether 'Craig' is, in fact, my kid's real name. *

* It's not.

Adam, hehe. Maybe; maybe not.

Lulu, nice try, but unfortunately that's not it. You forgot Beverley as a girl's name that could reflect my blogger alias. (Remember, it's pronounced "BEH-VISS", not "BEA-VISS") Hopefully I was able to get back to you soon enough!

No Dramas, twice in the one post! I feel honoured! Sorry it wasn't a girl to make it worth your while! :) 'Sarah', you say? I couldn't have gone with that name, because some friends of ours named their daughter Sarah just a year or so ago. (Why 'Sarah' in particular?)

MelbourneGirl, sorry that your comment got lost somewhere, but I must say that your re-telling of it still made me laugh. And I trust there will be no more of the GOING NUTS activity that has so heavily dominated proceedings around here these past five days. I would never forget you, whatsyaname. Cheers.
