Well Done, Boys
They've done it again. Twice in a row they're through to the Grand Final. I actually watched the game tonight, and that's saying a lot for someone like me, whose interest in sport normally only extends to ... well ... nothing at all.
But it was a good game, and no matter what Fremantle threw at them, the Sydney Swans just kept coming back. They were unstoppable, and it all augers well for next week.
Can they make it two premiereships back-to-back?
This guy might have something to say about it.
Sure, he's a bruiser ... but what a player! GO THE SWANNIES!! For the second year running, let's finish number:

Lordy.
I was actually going for Freo last night. Don't tell Cotton.
I can't believe I have to endure another bout of bandwagon jumpers who don't even know the words to their team song.
Its excruciating.
Despite being a loyal Hawks girl and a current Sydneysider, I will be supporting either West Coast or Adelaide... I couldn't stand the smugness of Sydney people for yet another year.
Sorry to rain on your parade.
Hopefully next season will mark a return to the glory days of the brown & gold.
Hopefully.
Two words:
"REIGNING CHAMPIONS"
Hehe ...
See?
Smug.
That kinda talk is rampant here in Sydney right now.
I can't stand it.
I can only hope that West Coast gets their revenge.
Although I suspect it may turn ugly if they do...
So it's your honest stance that Victorians aren't equally as smug when an interstate team bows out?
Pfft.
"Smugness", as you call it, comes from every team's supporters. Personally I don't hold with the "it should be a Victorian-side Grand Final" whinge, because it's called the AFL for a reason. Footy fans can't have it both ways, so it's either a national game or it isn't. They should make up their minds.
Sydney getting into the Grand Final two years in a row will have done wonders for the sport taking off in NSW, and I think we can never undersell the value that will have on the game as a whole.
Win or lose next week, the real winner will be football.
(I can't believe I just said that.)
Of course Victorians are smug. Everyone is smug.
Its just Sydneysiders are being smug about a sport they know so little about.
If they actually bothered to learn the rules and their team song I would shut up.
But they won't. Last time I went to a Swans game I swear the woman behind me yelled "TRY!" when the Swans kicked a goal.
And she wasn't just being encouraging.
PS - I can't believe you just said that either.
I've said it on my blog and I'll say it here:
Adam Goodes. Brownlow. 28 points.
i hate barry hall.
and i don't hate many people.
he is my nemesis.
ps my dad was referred to in the fourth last para of john harms' article in the age today, you can read about my dad with the grey beard here:
http://www.realfooty.theage.com.au/realfooty/articles/2006/09/24/1159036415255.html
my dad and i are planning a rebuttal about the libellous suggestion that he only popped in for the last quarter. my dad NEVER does that.
it really was him too. he called me to tell me this morning.
ummm...
I don't think I'm an Kansas any more.
Where did this footy post come from?
I think you've channeled someone else....
Maybe my lack of interest in the finals after week one has been transferred to you as interest.
Good luck to the swannies. I don't mind if they win, even if they have the nemesis playing for them.
btw. the man with the Grey beard wouldn't normally slap his thigh. I've not seen him that animated.
and also, Krispy Kreme....
and also, also, How do Walkers doughnuts compare the KK's? They look the same and are priced the same. anyone done a taste test/comparison?
GO SWANNIES!
Not all Sydneysiders are smug and bandwagon jumpers!
I have been a loyal member since 1995 and love my Swannies! I am so excited by the prospect of going back-to-back!
I would also like to add that Barry Hall used to be a bruiser, but not anymore. The Sydney press is so much kinder than the Melbourne press, plus having aan amazing coach like Paul Roos has settled his nerves and made him one of, if not, the best, player in the AFL! Look at his stats from the Freo match! - AMAZING!
Let's go boys! Maybe it'll be even better with a premiership AND a neice or nephew within a few days!
UP THE SWANS!
(Uncle) Little Bevis
I share Clokeeeey's disinterest in all events after the elimination final, and for the same reason. But go the Swannies anyway, even if they are no longer called the South Melbourne Bloods, which was a much cooler nickname.
Happily, basketball seasons is upon us. Go the (Melbourne) Tigers, and an absolute yay for the Opals.
Alright, there's altogether too much sport being discussed here. I hereby demand that it cease immediately.
(And I'd say the same thing even if the Swans had won.)
Clokeeeey! - you can check a comparison of lots of doughnuts (including Walkers and Krispy Kreme) at http://www.mmmdoughnuts.com...
