Inappropriate?

Do you think it's wrong to write on a colleague's farewell card (when she's leaving to have a baby), "I hope you have as much fun raising your child as you did making it"??

Perhaps it simply implies that I know too much ...

No, I don't think it implies knowing way too much, I think it's fairly widely accepted that sex is pretty fun. It does imply you're pretty comfortable with the workchick and that you're a bit cheeky, but I don't imagine that's unknown to anyone.

Melba, not as such, no. I meant that it may imply I was there, watching, at the time of conception - or something icky like that. Anyway, the message has been writ and delivered. She laughed, as did everyone else who heard/read it. But that doesn't mean others weren't or wouldn't have been unimpressed. But I guess that's their problem. And thank you for your PS. It's good to be back.

Adam, I agree that the fact you mentioned has been fairly widely accepted. You make a good point. Also, you're right that I'm comfortable enough with her to joke around a bit, and also I am hilarious. Everyone knows it. And they're jealous.

I think she probably got a kick out of it. I know I would laugh.

I think it's a crack up of a line.

I too seek permission to use it as we have a colleague who'll be leaving in a couple of months.

You're all free to use it at will, if you want to -- absolutely!
