Thank you all!

(And it's good to see you back from your apparent hiatus, Clokes!)

Wifey and I are just about to head off from my parents home in Sydney for our own humble abode in Melbourne. We think we'll be on the road by 12:30am Thursday (which is to say, within 50 minutes or so as I type this).

So take care out there and I'll be back online in 16 - 18 hours or so.

I would have been if I had known beforehand that you were planning to drive in the middle of the night

Well? I'm waiting for this new persona for today, MG - I've visited your blog and it's not up there yet. Maybe you're working on the post right now ...

... WHEN YOU SHOULD BE THESISISING!

??

Elaine, neveryoumind, I'm used to driving all night and I love the Sydney-Melbourne trip especially. We didn't share the road with anyone all the way to Albury (which we reached at 6:30am), although thereafter it was 'business as usual' for people travelling from Albury to Melbourne, so the road wasn't quite as empty then (but it was still smooth sailing all the way home!).

The middle of the night is the best time to drive long distance - if you're well-rested and/or have a second driver. Fewer people on the road, no heat or glare from the sun, and you still have half the day ahead of you when you arrive at your destination. (Assuming you were snoozing while the alternate driver drove, and you don't need that extra half-day just to sleep, which we kinda wanted to do, but held out 'til eventime.)

New post to come; I'm kinda torn between entertaining Wifey while we're both still on holidays and sitting at my computer to keep all you lousy people happy. (!) So far, you can tell who's winning (I'm here, aren't I?), but I think we're off to see another one of those 5 movies we want to see, shortly.

Kangaroos bounce* right off it like rubber - it's great!

"Can you picture that?"

The Muppets are great for any road trip. I highly recommend them.

* Pun intended.
